Month 6: Understanding Dementia, TBI & Spinal Cord Injury
South Carolina's required Month 6 competency topic: an orientation to dementia, traumatic brain injury, and spinal cord injury, and how each affects a client's care needs.
Why This Orientation Matters
Dementia, traumatic brain injury (TBI), and spinal cord injury (SCI) are three very different conditions, but they share something important: each can dramatically change what a client needs from you day to day, and each requires you to adjust your approach rather than expecting the client to adjust to a standard routine. This module gives you a working orientation to all three so you can recognize what you're seeing and respond appropriately -- deeper, condition-specific training (like our full dementia and Alzheimer's courses) can build on this foundation.
